APPEARANCE
HEIGHT: 72 cm
WEIGHT: 85 lbs
VOICE OVER: light, airy, and even
Yulia's strange coloration tends to draw eyes; her thick, fluffy fur, a deep and vibrant russet splashed with dark browns, seems more fitting a fox than a wolf. Whether she's a beauty or an oddball seems to be a toss up in most cases. Her eyes are a warm and sad mahogany. Physically, Yulia has the powerful build of a mountain wolf - broad shoulders, thick paw pads, and strong hind legs.
PERSONALITY
- accepting and accommodating
- believes females are fundamentally lesser than males
- quiet, but assertive
- becomes frustrated every easily, but tends not to show it
- observant, picks up on minute details
Yulia's demeanor is poised and complacent. She takes pride in her self control and makes a constant conscious effort not to cause scenes or blurt things out of turn. Thus, she may come across as pompous and stuck-up to those who do not know her. Yulia's heart is soft and malleable in actuality, and prone to spouts of frustration - for what, she doesn't understand herself, but it may have something to do with her suppressed characteristics and...tendencies. Yulia, realistically, is in a perpetual state of denial about her true nature. She's kind and calm, yes, but intense emotions are always abrew beneath the surface.
Due to her upbringing, Yuli is a firm believer in the inferiority of females in opposition to males. Of
course they should be first in every way - they are stronger, more intelligent, and natural leaders. She takes her place behind the lupus without a word. Seen, not heard, that's what her mother taught, and one should scorn those lupa who refuse to follow their natural instincts.
Her voice, suppressed at a young age, made room for a new skill, however - observation. Yulia can pick up on the smallest of details and has impeccable investigative skills. She makes a good apothecary for this; she can tell if a patient is covering something up, or is in more pain than they say. Duplicate herbs usually don't fool her, either. Although quiet, Yulia knows how to get her points across with concise language and a strict demeanor. It is difficult not to take her seriously when she does choose to make her opinions known.
LIKES: fairness; passion; birds (they're tasty)
DISLIKES: being ignored; lying; mischief; dishonor
SKILLS: observation; rhetoric; herbalism
FLAWS: conceals her emotions; dishonest to herself; tends to become overly invested in her goals
DREAMS: to understand herself, her desires, and her future. Outwardly, she strives to please Jurgen in any way possible, no matter what she may need to do. She's also actively experimenting with lesser-known herbs to discover their uses and abilities.
FEARS: her parents.
HISTORY
Yulia's parents were not in love, and it shined through in the way they raised their daughter.
An arranged marriage, Morta and Eldewiss tended to despise each other; Morta's constant misery bothered Eldewiss to the point of physicality, only lending more to her depression. When Yulia was conceived, they argued over her future path almost constantly. Her father wanted a strong male sentinel, and her mother wanted a daughter to teach and coddle like a doll. The months passed, and Morta went into labor, producing two weak, lifeless boys...and one russet-colored girl.
Eldewiss became even more distant and violent after that. His daughter had stolen the lives of his sons in his eyes, a crime unforgivable. He never got to touch Yulia, for her mother always stood in the way to take the brunt of the hate, but his verbal abuse wore down on her shoulders until she was but a shell of her naturally passionate self. Morta pushed for this, asserting that women in the pack never talk back and only serve as pretty faces next to the men - it was their place. Yulia could only believe her. Morta meant well, but the damage she inflicted on Yulia's character hung heavy over the young lupa's head.
One sunrise, however, the cycle seemed to pause in its tracks. Morta went missing. Yulia's father ignored her absence completely, and pointedly avoided his daughter. A search party was sent to look for the missing fae, but they returned in the morning with nothing. Yulia's life progressed in a sort of uncomfortable calm after that; she was assigned her role as apothecary and studied under an old shaman who passed shortly after. It was only during her third year that Morta's body was found.
Bloated and broken, she'd drowned up near Wraxyn Rapids after he neck snapped on impact with the rocks below. Whether Eldewiss had tripped her...remains a mystery. Some believed Morta had jumped of her own will, while others looked on at Eldewiss with skepticism. Regardless, Yulia's mother was dead.
Her father contracted an illness that winter that made him incapable of fending off fevers; he perished as well soon after. Sometimes, she can still feel his hot gaze on her back, or her mother's whispering breath in her ear...
